Counseling and Testing, Harm Reduction Services and Peer Education Program for Youth

The Center for Community Health Research and Development (CCRD) provided technical assistance to 10 project provinces (Dien Bien, Hai Duong, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Long An, Can Tho, Binh Duong, Dong Thap) within the framework of the project "Prevention HIV/AIDS among Youth” in the General Official for Population Family Planning, Ministry of Health funded under Asian Development Bank (ADB), 2009”. CCRD rendered support in five components of the project:

1. Situation Analysis project area and the target audience
2. Communication and advocacy
3. Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT)
4. Harm reduction services
5. Monitoring and Evaluation

With the technical assistance afforded by CCRD, the 10 VCT centers had been set up and in full operation in the 10 provinces. There are 20 peer educators in each province sustaining work to reach youth group at high risk, providing knowledge and skills on HIV / AIDS prevention, and distributing condoms and clean needles free of charge to young men.
