Message Design Workshop for Entertainment-Education Program in Television in 2007

The Center for Community Health Research and Development (CCRD) held a message design workshop from 22nd to 26th, August 2007 to develop an Entertainment – Education (E-E) serial TV drama. This workshop was conducted and facilitated by a leading expert in Entertainment - Education, Ms. Esta De Fossard from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Center for Communication Programs (JHU/CCP).

Participants of the workshop included staff of CCRD, and representatives of the IEC Department in the Vietnam Commission for Population, Family, and Children (now the General Office for Population and Family Planning in the Ministry of Health), the Vietnam Administration of HIV/AIDS Prevention, Ministry of Health, the Central Commission for Population and Education, Vietnam Food Administration, Women, AIDS and Reproductive Health Center, Vietnam Women’s Union, and  Directors, Writers in IDS Media Vietnam, and the Television Film Production Center, Vietnam Television.

The objective of the workshop was to provide the most fundamental knowledge in the field of BCC and methodology in the production of E-E TV drama which is a relatively new area for communication and TV production people in Vietnam.

Safe motherhood, good parenting, food safety and accident and injury prevention for children are the four main topics selected in the workshop to be the key messages included in the 20 episode TV drama which will be broadcast in 2010.
