Research and evaluation

To achieve the Millennium Development Goals, a series of important activities have been implemented by National AIDS program in order to identify major constraints and shortcomings of the program and to overcome them in the forthcoming time. One of these activities is to conduct the Study on the organization system of the National AIDS Program in Vietnam from the central to provincial levels which objectives aimed to map out a blueprint for improvement of the organization system of the program. This study was carried out in August, 2003.
This is the mid-term evaluation on the street children program of PLAN Vietnam in October, 2003. The outcomes will importantly contribute to improvement in implementation of the program in next phases. The objectives of the evaluation comprised: to assess the implementation of the 2000-2003 project activities; to study the impacts of the project on the lives of children and their families; to identify problems and make recommendations for the next coming phase.
The overall goal of the study was to improve the health status of the mother and neonates to achieve reduction in maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity.The study was carried out in 2003. The study also set the following specific objectives: (1) to estimate maternal mortality ratio in 7 provinces and extrapolate a national maternal mortality ratio; (2) to identify the direct and indirect causes of maternal mortality.
