Research and evaluation

The Center for Community Health Research and Development collaborated with Abt Associates Inc. Vietnam to conduct HIV/AIDS National Health Account sub-analysis in 2006, the first-ever attempt of establishing a National Health Account on HIV/AIDS in Vietnam. CCRD conducted data collection and processing, written reports, coordinated stakeholders and advised the Ministry of Health on dissemination strategies.
The analysis was conducted in December, 2006 to provide the specific and real data base to formulate guidelines and to improve the effectiveness of multi-sectoral coordination in HIV/AIDS prevention and control in accordance to the directive 54-CT/TW.
In order to increase effective leadership drive against the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Vietnam, UNAIDS Vietnam invited the Center for Community Health Research Development (CCRD) as consultant to conduct (1) rapid desk review of relevant HIV/AIDS documents, (2) interviews with agencies working on HIV/AIDS to map key individuals, political structures, government agencies and their influences. CCRD suggested strategies for influencing leadership and identified key opportunities for leadership movement around HIV/AIDS in Vietnam.
The study was conducted in October, 2004 to provide essential data for the development of health policies and strategies on management and prevention of reproductive tract infection (RTI), and breast and cervical cancers for Vietnamese females. The specific objectives of the study were: (1) to identify prevalence of RTI, breast and cervical cancers among Vietnamese females aged 15-55; (2) to explore current knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) on RTI, breast and cervical cancers of Vietnamese females as well as to evaluate the quality of health care services for these diseases; (3) to recommend properly facilitated solutions.

CCRD’s mission is to contribute to the improvement and equity of health care and social advancement for the Vietnamese people through a systematic and sustainable approach that combines sound knowledge, cultural sensitivity and capacity building.
